Ellwood Station commemorates Ellwood Cooper, one of California’s notable pioneers in horticulture, who was instrumental in introducing the eucalyptus tree and in developing olive culture in southern California. He served as president of the State Board of Horticulture from 1885 to 1903. Ellwood Cooper is famous for introducing eucalyptuses to the Santa Barbara area.
